A new advertising method to your semi-finished products
The manufacturer of structural materials (direct purchasing of semi-finished products) or the materials supplier (intermediary) relies upon pertinent standards or experiences and offers materials / semi-finished products. The market is normally regulated by supply and demand for materials / semi-finished products. Normally, the materials supplier announces traditional materials and profiles and also new developments using the usual promotion methods. At the moment, such promotion is rarely efficient enough to meet the target group of design engineers. Hence cost happen to be high compared with the efficiency obtained.
The software 'Material Selection Depending on Load Requirements' bridges the gap between calculation of the component and expert use of materials thanks to the scientific selection of materials in accordance with the linear-elastic material laws and following light-weight construction principles. A summary of the chosen and desired properties of the material is given in a table. Software "Material Selection Depending on Load Requirements“
It is in particular the very wide but poorly systemised range of materials and the broad property profiles which make a proper selection of materials difficult for the designing engineer for an actual load-case and the intended practical conditions of application of the component profile.
The software-based material selection starts with the preliminary stress calculation of the structural part.
Further characteristics are selected step by step (e.g., endurance strength, corrosion resistance, weldability and heat treatability and also physical properties). As a result, the number of offered materials in the main and sub-groups of several categories is reduced and finally those materials are shown which fulfil all desired characteristics.
This software noticeably assists the designer with the scientific selection of materials without limiting the necessary creative aspects of this design work. Moreover, the user can be sure that the chosen material variants are actually offered on the market.
Conventional databases and reference tables cannot offer a service of this kind.
The software Material Selection Depending on Load Requirements is a completely new advertising method. It offers the chance of choosing a matching material supplier via links on the Internet each time the design engineer has found a material / semi-finished product for the planned structural part by applying scientific methods. Ideally, a direct contact between customer and supplier can be established. Thus the supplier can be certain that his advertising efforts, which consume a great deal of the budget, find their ways to the target group directly thus paying off without considerable losses. The supplier can now do without broadly diversified and untargeted advertising campaigns thus saving considerable cost.
In addition to the benefits which the advertising method offers to material suppliers in the way just described, the program includes also an active way of advertising. Suppliers can use the software Material Selection Depending on Load Requirements in their own customer advisory service or have their field representatives make use of it thus ensuring better customer relationship management and recruiting even new clients with this unique service.<br>
A particular innovation for material suppliers is the new chance to use this program to present new developments and to compare them with traditional materials on the market. Thanks to the scientific selection, materials with improved properties are given priority and are offered to the designer prior to the conventional materials. Thus new products can be more easily placed than in the past.
According to its philosophy, this program does not only show results according to load types. The designer can also choose from many other material features. Therefore, suppliers who indicate not only data on structural strength but offer and guarantee also other features of their material range are of course far ahead of their competitors on the material market.
